Does a guest network slow down my internet?
No. Guests share the same internet line coming into the building, but the guest WiFi runs alongside your main network without interfering with it. If you ever host a crowd, we can cap the guest side so it never crowds out your own devices.
Can guests see my computers, cameras, or files?
No, and that's the whole point. Devices on the guest network are walled off from everything on your main network. They can reach the internet and nothing else.
Do I have to set this up?
No. If we built your network, the guest WiFi is already there. You just hand out its name and password, or the QR code. If you're not sure whether yours is turned on, ask and we'll check.
What if my guest password gets out?
Tell us and we'll change it. It takes a minute, and your main WiFi password is untouched, so nothing else needs to be redone. That's exactly why keeping visitors on guest is worth it.
Is one guest network enough for a whole party?
Yes. A guest network handles plenty of devices at once. For a very large event or a busy office, mention it and we'll make sure it's sized right ahead of time.
Can I name the guest network myself?
Sure. Tell us what you'd like it called. Many people use something like "[Your Name] Guest." We can also set a password that's easy to read aloud if you'd rather skip the QR code.
Should my smart-home gadgets go on the guest network?
Often yes, or on a separate network just for gadgets. Cheap WiFi devices are the easiest target on a home network, so keeping them away from your computers and phones is a smart move. We can set that up for you.
